upgrading 3 PC to MS Office 2007 Pro or Standard

I'm seeing auctions on ebay for MS Office 2007 upgrade with an
indication that the item being sold can be used for upgrading 3 PCs,
assuming the three PCs meet the upgrade requirements (e.g. have office
2003, or office 2002, or Works ver 6.0, etc). Are these legit?

I'm not talking about stand-alone versions (which don't require other
licensed software), and I'm particularly not talking about the stand-
alone version of MS Office 2007 Home and Student edition, where it's
well advertised that that allows for 3 PCs.

The auctions I'm seeing are all for upgrade licenses, to Office 2007
Pro or Standard or Small Business Edition. If the auctions aren't
legit, one would think this would have blown up by now, with buyers
getting a surprise from Microsoft once they tried to upgrade a 2nd PC.

Appreciate any info. Thanks!

The only version of Office Professional or SBE that can be installed onto 3
concurrent computers is the volume license version. All retail upgrades are
limited to one device and a portable device used exclusively by the primary
user of the first device (but takes on the license of the upgraded software
if OEM.) Since that version is only sold as a volume license of 5 or more
computers to you or a business entity the 3 "upgrade" version is not legal.
Also, anything you buy software wise from eBay is probably pirated software.
What would happen is that you bought the program off eBay and then either
immediately you couldn't activate it or later when Genuine Advantage ran
during an update it would fail and then you would be stuck with one or more
poor coasters.

If you want to upgrade legitimately to SBE, Pro Plus, or Enterprise (in
other words you qualify) do not purchase off eBay but use a reputable
company such as Amazon to do so.

Hope this information helps.

As far as I have seen on Ebay or anywhere else Desktop Installation an
a laptop install only. I have bought a lot of software off of Ebay an
have never had an issue with it being pirated. The worst sometimes wa
it was misrepresented as to what it was. You just have to do you
homework and buy from reputable people and stores. The Academic versio
