Upgrading from Office 97 to Office XP

I am currently using offfioe 97 on Windows XP Home Edition.
I tried to do an upgrade by clicking on the upgrade option
in Office 97 but it won't upgrade to Office XP. Why?

To upgrade to Office XP from Office 97, you must purchase a copy of
Office XP, and install it.
