Upgrading on new laptop

I just purchased a new laptop. My old laptop had Office 2003 professional,
which I still have the disk. My new LT cam with 60 day trial of Office 2007
which is now expired. I want to upgrade/convert to 2007 but I dont have a
previous version on this LT. How can I upgrade/convert and not have to pay
full price if I already own Office 2003? Do I have to install 2003 then go
through the whole process of upgrading?

Thanks

James

Uninstall the trial and any activation assistant, reboot
Buy the particular upgrade version of Office 2007 you require, from eg
amazon.com
Install that version and have youur 2003 cd available to validate when the
upgrade asks for qualifying version

If I uninstall office trial and activation assistant, will my data in my
current outlook remain when I install the upgrade?

You should have no problems with any previous settings or data files. But
as in all situations, you should have a current backup of all data and
settings prior to doing any maintenance work on a computer.

In addition to DL's correct response about putting the CD in when prompted
for qualifying product, once the program has been installed, ensure that the
2003 CD is kept with the 2007 program's install media. If you ever need to
reinstall '07 you will need the '03 disk again. I tape the qualifying
product's CD case (with the CD) to the upgrade program's case. That way
they never get separated.
