Upgrading Shapes

Michael Murphy

I have an applciation that allows the user to create a doc based on a
template. I have a new version of the template with modfied shapes. I need
to upgrade the existing documents with the new shapes. This can be
accomplished using autoamtion to create a new shape, copy the data from the
old shape to the new, replace the old with the new, and then delete the old
shape. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to accompish this more
elegantly. I have alot of shapes to upgrade and writing copde for each one
seems like too much of a pain.

Thanks Mike Murphy

This is a common customer request, but unfortunately code is the likely
answer here.

Are there specific portions of the shapes that should be changed? If you
only want to move custom properties from shape to shape, Visio has a tool
for you.

If you have Visio 2003, this might also be a decent scenario for using the
Macro Recorder to perform the work.
