Laureen

Hello,

I have a PM that wants to upload a few thosand documents off another drive,
that is already organized into folders. Is there a good way to do this?

Thanks!

If the user wants to load local projects into the Project Server database,
there is no fast way to accomplish this. He/she must manually import each
project using Tools - Enterprise Options - Import Project to Enterprise.
Hope this helps.

Hi Dale,

Thank you for responding. I wasn't clear, we want to upload thosands of
documents to a project workspace.

You should ask the WSS guys, my understanding is that there are bulk import
tools for WSS (the documents feature is WSS rather than Project Server)

After I sent my reply, it dawned on me maybe you were talking about
uploading documents to SharePoint subwebs. Yes, what your user wants to do
can be done. Here's how:

1. Navigate to the Documents library the project workspace.
2. Click the New Folder button
3. Create a WSS folder that matches the first folder of the documents he
wishes to upload and then click the Save and Close button.
4. Click the Upload Document button.
5. Click the "Upload Multiple Files" link.
6. Navigate to the folder containing the first set of documents.
7. Select the checkbox beside each document he wishes to upload from that
folder.
8. Click the Save and Close button.
9. Repeat steps 2-8 for every folder containing documents he wishes to
upload.

Hope this helps.

Lauren:

In addition to Dale's advice, another alternative is to apply the Explorer
view to the WSS site, which allows you to work with the site as if it was
just another folder. Another word of advice: Have your folks review all the
file and folder names before attempting any of this. The use of special
characters in file and folder names is not allowed in WSS and will prevent
these operations from completing smoothly; only adding to your frustration.
