Uploading an existing project into the MS Project Server

Jeff

Hello,

My quicklaunch does not have many features. But off of the Microsoft
website it showed an example of Proposals and Operations Work which is not
showing up in the project web access. How do I get the full Quick launch to
show.

Thanks for your help!

The quick launch is controlled in two ways by your system administrator.

1) They can hide items from the quick launch for all users by going to
PWA>Server Settings>Quick Launch
2) They can change security settings which would disable or hide certain
quick launch features for specific sets of users through PWA>Server
Settings>Security>Users or Groups

BTW, I believe that Operations Work was an old term that was not used in the
actual released software but is still lingering in old Microsoft
documentation and screen shot samples.

Hope this helps,

Jeff,

There are likely to be 2 reasons you cannot see Proposals and Activities.

These server side scheduling options may have been globally disabled in your
instance of Project Server 2007. Server side scheduling being a new feature
with the 2007 version of Project Server.

You may not have permission to create or manage proposals or activities due
to the group(s) you belong to in Project Server

In either case it would be worth checking with your Project Server
Administrator to determine the reason why you cannot avail yourself of these
features.

Hi Dominic,

I need to add some other variables to this. First I am using MS Project
Server 2003, sorry for leaving that out. Second, I have administrative
rights to the server.

All I want is to upload an existing project to the server but cannot find an
import in the menu's. During the installation of the server is their a step
that needs to be checked off?

Thanks again for your quick response. Much obliged!

I have done this exact same step and I dod not see the project when I go to
PWA to open it. Am I missing something else?

Mtyson79 --

Did you publish the project after you imported it? When you import a
project using the Import Project Wizard, the system saves the project only
in the Draft database. You have to actually publish the project to make it
visible in the Project Center page in PWA (use File - Publish to publish the
project). Hope this helps.
