Upward compatibility of publisher 2000 files with pub 2003

I have many pub 2000 files and am contemplating buying office 2003 for small business, but I have been told that my pub 2000 files will not be compatible with pub 2003. Is this true and what can be done about it?

This is inaccurate.

Publisher 2000 files will almost always open perfectly in Publisher 2003.
And if they don't, on the whole you can normally convince Publisher 2003 to
co-operate by fiddling around with settings in Norton AntiVirus (the main
cause of problems opening files from older versions).

Your Publisher 2000 files will look a little different in Publisher 2003,
but there's nothing a little minor tweaking won't sort out.

Remember that Publisher 2003 requires Windows 2000 SP3 or later or Windows
XP or later.

If you want, you can keep Publisher 2000 installed alongside Publisher 2003,
just in case.

In addition to Ed's reply, the only real big issue is that Publisher 2000
WordArt will be converted to the new WordArt that was introduced in
Publisher 2002/2003. There is a free download from Microsoft that addresses
this. Otherwise, all will be fine and dandy.

In addition, Microsoft Publisher 2003 files can be opened in Microsoft
Publisher 2002, 2000 and 98.
