Urgent - Any Ideas ?

Hi All

we are using locked down actuals and posting timesheets to plans once a week
and as part of the posting process i have been rolling forward estimates not
used into the next weeks time period by manually putting zero's in the actual
work field in the resource usage view.

For some reason even after saving and republishing - all this effort seems
to be for nothing as the estimates seem to reset to where they were...

Can anyone tell me why this isnt working - im not a happy bunny.....

cheers

I do not believe you are correctly handling the process of rescheduling
uncompleted work in past time periods. Here's how to do it correctly:

1. Open a project with uncompleted work during the last reporting period
2. Click Tools - Tracking - Update Project
3. Select the "Reschedule uncompleted work to start after" option
4. Enter a date one day BEFORE you want to schedule the uncompleted work to
resume
5. Select the "Entire project" option
6. Click OK
7. Save and publish the project

Hope this helps.

Will this "stretch tasks" that are in progress as my understanding is that
it wouldnt
and these are the types of tasks im having problems with

ie if a resource was due to spend 10 hours on a fixed work task and only
posted 5 hours to his timesheet would your method put the 5 remaining hours
into the following week and adjust the end date accordingly ?

(just to clarify before i click the button)

Cheers

On tasks in which progress has been entered but the task is not completed,
this process will cause a "task split" in the Gantt bar and adjust the
Finish date of the task accordingly. On unstarted tasks, this process will
move the Gantt bar to the beginning of the reporting period and adjust the
Start and Finish dates accordingly. Hope this helps.

You are more than welcome, my friend! Yes, I SHOULD think about writing a
book. HA! :)
