I am the Project Server (2003) admin for my program. We are trying to
migrate to another group's Project Server 2007. They told us to make
sure that we did not have any data stored in Enterprise Text 1, 2, or
3 prior to migrating all of our workplans over to 2007, as they
currently use those enterprise fields.

We do not currently populate Enterprise Text 1, 2, or 3 with data in
any of our workplans, but a long time ago someone must have renamed
Enterprise Text 1 as "Workplan". In an effort to clean this up, I
checked out the Enterprise Global template and removed the name
"Workplan" so that the field would be renamed back to Enterprise Text
1. I made this change in both Resource Usage and Task Usage views
within the global template. I saved and closed the global template.

Now when I open any of our workplans, I receive the following
messages:
1) The enterprise global already contains a view named 'Resource
Usage'. Do you want to replace the view with the one from the
enterprise global, replace all items with duplicate names, rename the
view in the project, or cancel opening the project?

If I click "Replace" (as in replace the view with the one from
enterprise global), I get the next error message:
2) There is a view named Tas&k Usage in this project which cannot be
overwritten. Press OK to rename it, or press Cancel to cancel opening
the project. (Note: the "&" in Tas&k Usage is how it appears in the
error message - the & wasn't a typo).

If I click OK to rename the view, I end up with Task Usage and Task
Usage1. I believe Task Usage1 then becomes a local view, because it
doesn't show up in the Checked Out global template --> Organizer. All
I did was rename one of the fields - I wasn't trying to change the
views. What do I do to fix this problem so that everyone who opens
their plans still has their old default Task Usage and Resource Usage
views? We have approx. 40 workplans, so will everyone need to rename
the view and end up with a duplicate local view or is there a way to
prevent this?

Thank you so much for your help.

I'm confused. Did you actually open the Enterprise Global file, click
Tools - Organizer, and determine if the Enterprise Global file contains a
View called Task Usage? If it does, that is the source of this problem and
you should remove the Task Usage view from the Enterprise Global file. Let
us know.
