URGENT HELP REQUIRED

Sounds drastic i know but......
im in the middle of rolling out the first weeks worth of timesheet to folk
here and have found out that only plan owners can approve resource timesheets
- firstly is this correct and secondly how do i sort it so that team members
have their T/s approved by team leads who are approved by PM's who are
approved by prog director ? My RBS reflect this and we are using additive
permissions - what have i missed ?

Please help or i'll be in the stuff that makes the garden grow

Cheers

Mat

Change your security permissions. In security Templates for Resource
Managers, check Approve Timesheets for Resources and in Global Permissions,
check Timesheet approval. Update your Resource Manager group (Set Permissions
with Template: Resource Manager).

Conversely, update the permissions for the Project Manager template to
UNCHECK both. Update the Project Manager Group and set the template.

Your RBS will now push timesheet approval to the RM's. The PM still has
right of approval for time posted to a project as long as they are the owner.

The last point is key because all updates are sent to the Owner of the
project. The owner is the person who publishes the plan. If you are unsure
who the owner is, you can Edit the project in PWA. If it's the incorrect
owner, best practice is to open in Project Pro and Republish Assignments. You
can uncheck the e-mail notification to minimize redundent e-mails.

Cheers Rick - but we have not used the Resource managers category. As we
tailored our categories to meet our requirements.
Will I need to add it back in ? The Team Lead Category is the one with
timesheet approvals set to allow. And as we are using the additive method PM's
get Team member, team leads and PM category.

I now understand the project owner setting - but is the RBS the sole point
of refernce for who approves who's timesheet ?

No; you don't need to add the RM back in if you have used Team lead. As long
as there is a hierarchy it will work OK.

The RBS identifies who reports to whom in the hierarchy. There has to be a
connection between a team member (timesheet) and the person who has to
approve.
