Urgent help required!

I have a column of cells with dates in, is it possible for the individual
cells to change colour once that date has passed, to highlight them to me?

can you use conditional formatiing, which is available in the Format menu.

It certainly is, use conditional formatting, select A1:-

format|conditional formatting|formula is

=A1>TODAY() and then select a colour.
