USB Stick

I try to connect a USB memorystick in e Hub.
The stick doesn't run, however my computer shut down.
I ahve tried to put it in other USB , but all others drivers, like D-LINK
(net Wless), disapear from "POste de travail".
A french answer will be better for me.Thank you.
