Use existing PST for IMAP email

I got a new computer and want to move my existing PST that I use for
an IMAP account (Gmail). It seems there is no way to do this. I know
I can recreate it and it will download all the emails. However, there
are 12GB worth and it will take like 3 days to download it all. Is
there any way (including hack) to reuse the PST that already has all
those emails?

If you create a new account, then go to File | Import and point it at
your old pst, does that do the trick?

There's no way to do this.
