F9 is the Recalculate key. This is for when you have se
Tools>Options>Calculations to Manual, you press F9 whenever you want t
recalculate your sheet. This is useful in very large sheets that hav
many interconnected formulas that take a long time to calculate.
Setting to Manual allows you to work, uninterupted. With Automatic
the sheet recalulates every time you change any value in any cell.
F3 is the Paste Name feature. Let's say you have a cell name
"CostOfGoodsSold" (Insert>Name>Define). Somewhere else on the shee
(or on another sheet) you want to reference the contents of that cell.
Pressing F3 brings up the Insert Name pick box. You simply select th
Range name you want and click OK. Your target cell now has th
formula: "=CostOfGoodsSold" and the cell returns the contents of tha
named range. This can save retyping lengthy range names over and ove
again.
