Use of Icon Formatting too small

I built a custom tabular view of our group calendar and created a new field
called "RecentRevision" which is used simply to denote in the tabular view
which appointments were recently revised. This way in a staff meeting, the
staff can quickly see which items on the group event table are new and worthy
of discussion. The field (column) is formatted as "Icon" so that it shows up
as an unfilled box when the item is old and a box with a check when the item
is denoted as having been added recently. The table simply shows the event,
its date, location, and whether an item is new or not with the checkbox. This
is distributed via PDF to the staff and is used via projector during the
staff meeting to review updates to teh calendar. Hopefully that sets the
scene enough.

What we find is two things ... the check box is very very small, whether
printed or on-screen ... makes it hard to see which boxes are checked and
which are not. I'd like to see if there is a way to raise the font size of
the check-box alone without changing the other fields (since they won't fit
on the page across a single line if I raise it further) ... is it possible ?

Second, when we print to PDF, the check box in its entirty does not show up,
its like invisible. We have to first print to Microsoft Office Document Image
Writer(MODIW), then from within MODIW we print it to PDF, extra steps I'd
like to avoid. I've pursued this with Adobe to no avail ... they point back
to Microsoft. Any ideas ?

The check box is just a more elegant solution, looks wise, but we could
always fall back to a simply yes/no or true/false ... I'd rather avoid that.

thanks in advance for any help you might provide.
