Use of more than one currency

Danila

I need to create Projects using different currencies, for example my local
one and US Dollars. As far as I understands that's a matter of customizing,
I've done that already. Project can also be published in different currencies
if I allow this option.

Now I need PM's to work with resources who's pay rate can be in different
currencies.
Is it possible to enter pay rate for resources in different currencies?

Am I not mistaking if I say that different pay rates can be added for each
resources and the currency of that pay rate depends on Project Currency
Settings?

For example I have a resource Man1
His pay rates are:
A (default) - 10/hour
B - 15/hour

If MS PRoject Server currenciy settings are USD but I have a project in EUR
then the resource's Man1 pay rates will be:
A (default) - 10eur/hour
B - 15eur/hour

So MS Project just subtitues the currency based on the project settings?
And the pay rates is an absoutely separate thing which is not in any way
connected to currency?

Danila,

Unfortunately you cannot vary the currency for resources on the different
cost rate tabs, if you enter a currency symbol that is not the default you
will get an error message.

Whilst you can publish projects using different currencies it looks like the
resource cost rates are dictated by the "Default Server Currency" which is
defined within the Additional Server Settings section of the Server Settings
Administrative Console in PWA.

I would caution mixing projects with different currencies as Project Server
has no "treasury" function to convert or harmonise costs in projects using
different currencies. Project is first and foremost a project scheduling and
forecasting tool rather than a project accounting tool.
