Use of paragraph styles within tables

When used outside the table, changes to paragraph styles' font size work great. When I use a style within a table cell, it reverts to its former font size. (I'm using Word 2007 on Windows XP).

Any ideas?

This is a documented bug and arises from the fact that there is an
underlying default font that is not necessarily the font of the Normal
style. If you have modified the Normal style, then styles based on Normal
(AIUI) will revert to the actual default in tables. There's discussion of
this in
http://www.shaunakelly.com/word/styles/custom-table-styles-2002-2003.html.
In Word 2007 and 2010, you can get around this by changing the document
defaults instead of modifying the Normal style (see
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/291291 or
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/word-help/change-or-set-the-default-font-HP010014408.aspx
for instructions). Note that Shauna's article has not been updated for Word
2007 and consequently does not take into account the changes in that
version, but there's an explanation of what's going on "behind the curtain"
at
http://blogs.office.com/b/microsoft...tyles-doc-defaults-style-sets-and-themes.aspx,
which builds on Jonathan's previous post at
http://blogs.office.com/b/microsoft...d-the-curtain-styles-order-of-operations.aspx.

Many thanks. At least I know I'm not going crazy. :) Sounds like I need to use Body Text instead.
