Use program on 2nd computer?

I guess this is frequently asked, but can I install Office 2007 student
edition on a second computer(not mine) using the oem discs that came with my
HP. Can I safely do this without complications? What problems might I
encounter? Thank you.

No - you cannot install an OEM version on any other computer and even if it
was a retail version, you can't "share" a copy of Office.

I can not belive you. I think that retail versions have an option like that:
1.1 Installation and use. You may:
(a) install and use a copy of the Software on one personal computer or other
device; and
(b) install an additional copy of the Software on a second, portable device
for the exclusive use of the primary user of the first copy of the Software.

Student edition that I bought at the college bookstore allows installation
on up to three computers. Retail editions have an option like you describe,
but this fellow wants to install the second copy on a computer that is not
his. That seems like a violation of the retail license. In addition, he
mentions "the oem discs that came with my HP". Oem versions are for
installation on one computer only. I was not aware of a student/oem edition
of Office.

Cheers,

Earle

My comment was about EULA of retail version. I think, that "...and even if it
was a retail version, you can't "share" a copy of Office." was seriously
misleading.
In my opinion you are wrong too. "... and install an additional copy of the
Software on a second, portable device for the exclusive use of the primary
user of the first copy of the Software." permits in my opinion install an
additional copy of the Software on a second, portable device regardless
ownership of portable device This device might belong to IT rental company,
friend or somebody else. It is important to follow, that second installation
should be for the exclusive use of the primary user of the first copy of the
Software.".

The EULA conditions and terms are complicated and maybe confusing,
especially for those, who, like me, use English as a second or third
language, not as native language. Therefore it would be nice if only people
with adequate understanding of EULA comment questions about EULA. I myself do
not have such knowledge, but I still understand if someone tells about EULA
something that is not entirely true.

"His computer" can surely refer to a computer that actually belongs to an
employer, school, rental company or whatever. Possession in English can
extend to things that you use all the time, such as for example "my desk" at
work. The desk maybe belongs to my employer, but more probably to a company
that leases office equipment to them. The original poster referred to "a
second computer(not mine)", and as I said this "seems like" a EULA
violation. There isn't enough information given to say whether it is so or
not.

You're right that if he borrows, rents or even steals the computer for his
exclusive use, then the retail EULA allows him to install the product on it.
However the original poster is really not clear what kind of software
license he has.

Cheers,

Earle
