use telephone through computer

[54 years old and a bit of a ludite]

how can i use a boom mike and head set directly through my computer. i have
office 2003. do i require spacific software or with the system allow me to do
it or am i just too old to know how?

You need to find a program that will act as a phone, such as www.skype.com
