User cant register time for task in pwa (MS project 2003)

Ennova

hi all experts
I have a user attached as a ressource on a project.
If the user log onto the pwa, the timesheed table to the right for the
paticular project is locked / grayed out, so he cant register time even
though he has time available for the task.
Does anyone know what could be wrong? or where I lack some settings?

Thanks in advance

Hi Ennova,

Did the resource try to enter his/her time on a different PC. if not, let
the resource try to log on to a different PC and see if the problem precists.
If not, than I would assume that it is a PC related issue
Hope this helps

Hi Marc
Thanks for your reply :)

The issues persists on another computer, so it must be a project /
projectserver related issue.

Do you have any suggestions where to look? Or which settings I need to review?

Thanks for your help

Hi Christian,
Make sure that all approvals for that project are dealt with, and then
re-publish the project. Make sure that the project publishes okay.

Also, just a thought, make sure that the task is not Closed to Updates
(server settings).

Hi Ben
The project updates okay, but the user still cant register time for the task.

He can change the actual work for the project, but not on a specific day/week

On this task, there are 2 other assigned. These can register time okay.

Could It be something with the ressource?

Hi Ennova,
The other 2 resouces can they actually enter the work per day or can they
only change the actual work by task? If this is the case, it could be that
the tracking method for this project is not set to update by day, but to
update actual work by task. Let me know if the 2 other resources are able to
enter the actual work by day.
Thanks

Hi all
I seem to have found the problem..
The server Tracking set to Actual work done and work remaining, instead of
House of work done per day or week.

When I look at my projects I can see that some projects have tasks with
different tracking settings. My questions is now: How to a change the
tracking option for a specific task, or set the default tracking settings for
all tasks in a project?

Thanks again for all your help :)

Christian:

Changing the tracking method and re-publishing the assignments will change
the method for all tasks that do not have progress reported against them. If
you need to change it for assignments, you need a "do-over." In other words,
save the project as an mpp file and then import it back as a new plan. Zero
out the progress in the plan before you do this, of course.
