Hi,
We have an issue where if users change domains (and its fairly frequent
right now as we are migrating to other servers) then there is a sync issue
in Project comms.
Basically as you are aware within Project Server there are subwebs for each
project, holding documents and issues relevant to that project. Users
belonging to the project are granted rights to the relevant subwebs. These
users are then listed in each individual subweb (as attached)
However what I am having difficulty with is that if a user's Project Account
Id changes, the example being at the moment users are changing Domain (i.e
AMETHYST\BRubble to DAIMOND\FFlintstone), I have to go through each sub web
delete the users old entry and add a new entry for new domain.
Based on 50 projects and 100 users changing domains, the way I am doing
things at the moment this would result in 5000 deletion and 5000 additions
Can you suggest and/or direct me towards an improved method of managing such
a change
It was suggested that the Synchronisation Function will match users account
details to sub web user settings (adding news users and changing existing
names if there is a difference (i.e domain change))
It has been suggested that republishing the projects will also update the
sub web user settings
Therefore given the scenario that a new user is added to project server and
then finds that they cannot access document folders what is the most
efficient resolution.
a. Add user to projects, using Project Pro, and then republish
projects
b. Re synchronise each sub web ( with the number of projects we
currently have takes 20 minutes - longer as more projects are created)
Finally is there a more efficient way to do this ? Any advice/comments
would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Jeff
