user-level security and splitting database

Hello,

I have an access 2003 databse that i want to protect with user-level
security and i will also split the database. My question is; which step is
first; splitting the database or setting up the workgroup, groups and users?

Either way will work, but I'd recommend:

Secure it
Split it, but don't use the splitter wizard as that results in
unsecuring the backend - split it manually - steps at

Thanks for the heads up, but i have already split the database. Is there a
way to put it back together again or to secure the be now that it is split.

To secure the BE now that it is split.

Login to your FE. Create a new database and import all the objects from
the BE. Remove all permissions for the Users Group for every object.
Assign permissions for your Group(s) for the Database Object and if
necessary the tables.
