User password

I wanted to change the password for one of my users. I went into 'User and
Group accounts' and selected the name of the user whose password I wanted to
change/reset. I then clicked on 'Clear Password' hoping to get some kind of
confirmation or a prompt which would ask me for a new password. That box just
got highlighted and no confirmation appeared. Next I closed the database and
opened it again from the shortcut on my desktop(This shorcut was generated
after I used the workgroup security wizard). This prompted me for a username
and a password. I was hoping it would prompt me for a new password as I had
cleared this user's password earlier but it didn't. Also it didn't accept the
old password as would be expected so this user is locked out. How can I
create a new password for this user?

The user is not locked out, they just have a blank password. Sign on with
that user name and leave password blank. That should let you in and then
you can set a new password.
