user profiles start with a number instead of a name

we have six clients that have to keep entering passwords in OL2003 I tried
the Microsoft KB
no help. In the registry HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Protected
Storage System Provider user is a ? with a number. I not sure were this is
coming from

in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Protected Storage System Provider is
just a question mark and a long number for username. So instead of
(e-mail address removed) its ?S-151-XXXX
