User tries to open XL97 file on network--says they are arlready in it

Hi,

I have a user that opens a file on a network share and is told that the file
is already being modified by the same user, would they like to open it in
read only mode.

I didn't see Excel.exe in task manager more than once and this isn't a
person who'd be logged in on two machines simultaneously.

Anyone have any ideas about this.

This is on Excel 97 SR-2.
