Using Barcode scanners with Access 2003

I am looking to revamp an Access DB that tracks work flow
between departments. Basically it tracks who has a job,
when it's due back to the sender and when it was received
by the sender, those dates are entered in manually as it
goes about its rounds from department to department.
My question is:
Has anyone setup a barcoding system with their Dbase and
if so which software/scanners would you recommend?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi Ron:

I use a barcode scanner in my small library application. The type I use is a
"wedge" type scanner, which sends data to the program as if it were entered
on the keyboard. Tony Toews has collected lots of useful information at:
