using clip art as a back drop on page

I want to use clip art as a shaded back ground, whereby being able to read
the text superimposed over the clip art. Make sense?

Is your clipart a bitmap, a .jpg for example? Select the image, on the picture
toolbar, select the color icon (looks like bar chart), select wash out.
