Hi William,
On Windows XP if you upgrade from Office 2003 or Office XP to Office 2007 and leave in a part of the prior version (alternative
input) then the Dictation tools should still work from the Windows Language Bar, but there isn't a 'speech' choice within the Office
apps in 2007.
Alternatively you can download the MS Speech 5.1 SDK (Software Developer's Kit) from
http://microsoft.com/downloads and install that
and you should be able to do the dictation but possibly not the 'command mode' to activate menus and such.
However, you may want to look, instead, at more fully developed 3rd party dictation packages such as Dragon from
http://nuance.com
============
As a disabled typist I dictate rather than type in Office 2003, and this has
been very sucessfull. There would seem to be no facility in 2007 to do this
or am I wrong ?
Likewise, scanning using Omnipage 14 directly into Word or other
applications would appear not to exist. Is it me, or do these facilities
which work perfectly well in 2003, do not exist in 2007 ?
