Using forms to access downloads

I want to offer a free pdf download from my FP 2000 website in exchange for
some basic contact info (name and email address). Is there any way of making
sure that only those who fill in their details can access the download?

The easy and cheesy method-
Create a form to gather the information and then set the
confirmation to the URL of the page

Looks like you've got some reasonable answers but in all realism the contact
info you get is probably not going to be worth much. I never type a real
address to register for anything and sites such as http://www.bugmenot.com/
make it even easier.

A better solution might be to either
a/ tell your users how nice you are because you're not going to ask for
contact info - this could be a good selling point
b/ take the email and then send the file to them - assuming your info is
valuable enough for someone to give you their real email
c/ worst case tell them exactly why you need their email - are you going to
sell it, send them "newsletters" or send them something valuable? Most
people on the web (including newsgroups :) think that if they take anything
free they're doing the giver a favour by taking it and are wise to the old
"just type your email and get a ton spam" trick.
