Using frames - how do I ...

Probably simple, but I'm new at this so bear with me.

I use two vertical frames in my website, with the left pane for
my links.
When I click on a link either internal or to the web, the new
page opens in the right hand pane, and that's how I usually
want it.
BUT when the website I call has itself got two vertical
frames/panes, it looks messy. Is there a way I can clear the
screen before displaying the new page ie so my own frames
disappear?

It is best to open all external links in a new window so that you avoid this
type of issue. Set the target value of your external hyperlinks to _blank
(New Window).
