i am working on my website on my desktop computer. i recently purchased a
lap top and want to be able to use it as well for creating the website. i
have zip drives on both machines. how do i move the existing material to the
zip drive (ie what files other than those in the "mywebs" directory need to
be moved) and how do i then let the program know to look on the zip drive for
the information?

Create an empty folder on the zip drive.
Publish to the folder.

I have two computers with FP 2000 in different houses and maintain a single
website like you are trying to do. Each computer is set up exactly the
same with the local website being located in the same directory on each
machine. Generally I spend several weeks or months at one residence before
moving to the other. Whenever I move, I do a backup of the current website
and then do a restore, only updating changed files.

I was having trouble with one of the computers trying to publish data that
had not changed and should not need to be uploaded. That problem was solved
when I got a great tip on this newsgroup to mark the publish status as
"don't publish" for files that should not have changed.

Open the live web, publish the site to the ZIP drive (it will prompt you where to
publish to)

To open the web from Zip drive, when in Frontpage, go to File > open > Web/Site
and then open up the "Open" dialogue to point to your Zip disk, then publish to
the live site in the same manner as usual, File > Publish Web.

The only difference here is you're working from a Zip disk, not hard drive.
