Using Group Policy to Push out Office Compatability Converter for

T

TeeCee

Hi.

I downloaded the fileconverter for 2007 Excel and Word files and extracted
it so I could get the .msi for pushing out with Group Policy. I copied the
files that were extracted along with the .msi and .cab and put them on a
server with a network share and added the package to the OU with the GPO to
push the msi out to a couple of test laptops/workstations. The work stations
have Office 2003.

It pushes out fine, installs the package and event viewer shows successful
installation.

On on laptop wtih the minimum requirements and updated windows updates, the
excel attachment in 2007 will not open but says "not enough memory" and locks
the machine up. The Word document still gives the error "Do you want to
download the converter tool....." When I say No or Cancel, it brings up the
language tool configurations and is set at Turkish and does not work.

I tried to push out to another laptop and it only opens the excel if you
first save the document to somewhere and open Excel and open the attachment
after you have saved it.

Can anyone tell me what is going on? I want to push this out smoothly.

Tina
