Using insert key to strike over text in a document

I am using Office 2003. I used to be able to use the insert key to change
back and forth between strike-over text in a document and inserting new text.
This is no longer working. Can anybody help????

Check that the Insert key still functions on the keyboard. In Word for
instance at the bottom of the Window "OVR" will appear, and disappear as
you repeatedly press the Insert key. If this doesn't happen, then the
keyboard may be duff.

Thanks for your reply. The insert key works outside of a word document (such
as on the search bar) but not in a word document. I do not see the OVR
appear. I can go to the tools/options/edit and select "overtype mode" and it
works.

In that case go back to the tools/options/edit and UNselect "Use INS key
for paste".

I already checked that setting and it is not checked for paste. I also tried
running a "find errors and fix" on the setup disk and no change was made.
Any other ideas??? ( I hope!!!)
