using kiosk setting?

Hello,

It looks as if I was wrong in thinking that the kiosk setting allowed
me to use the enter key to make animations run but NOT to bring up the
black screen with "End of Show, click to exit" message, after all the
animations had taken place.

I am finding that the kisok setting prevents any use of the enter key
- which makes sense. I do have this right do I?!

This means that I have to accept the black screen? It just seems out
of character with the rest of the slides re appearance.

Am I able to change the appearance of the black screen? I have seen it
said that this sceeen and message is down to the OS? I am not clear
what this means.

By the way this is aimed at putting the ppt files on a CD.

Any thoughts please?

You do have it right, kiosk mode disables the enter all together.
You can get rid of the black screen by using Tools - options - remove check
next to End with black slide.
Unfortunately this is a machine setting only and it will not be saved with
your presentation.
If on the other hand you put an action button on the last slide and link
that to end the show you will not have the black screen. It would require
the user to click on it. You can give it a label like The End.

I need the action button togo to a particular menu slide and not to
end the show, so the only thing is to add an action button to the last
slide? if the user presses the enter key they will still get the black
screen?

Does the label go above the action button or can it be added to the
button itself?

Are you saying you are linking to separate shows using a menu slide? If that
is the case you will have to put an action button on the last slide of the
linked presentation(s) telling PPT to end the show. In that case you will
not have the black screen. I can't test it here for the moment so I could be
wrong, if that is the case someone else will correct me.

If you add an action button and you want to label it. Just select the button
and type your text. Use the custom action setting button (first on the first
row) which has no icon on it so the text will not interfere with the icon.
If necessary you can format the textbox on the action button to appear at
the bottom/top of the button. Use Format AutoShape and click on the textbox
tab. At the top of the dialogue you will be able to position the text.

will go over this again - I thought "end show" had taken me out
completely ... I had probably better stop this for a moment - daughter
has just given birth and me thinks my mind isn't working too well!

Yes, I have a series of menu ppt files - each of which is hyperlinked
to a series of ppt files.

I thought "end show" took me right out but will check this again.
