Using local text and number fields

We have a PM who is using local Text and Number fields to track data unique
to his projects. He is renaming the fields and making them available in
tables and views also unique to him.

He has, on several occasions, suddenly lost all of the data stored in these
fields and the field definition has been reset to the default for the field,
Text or Number, while the name he assigned has remained.

Has anyone experienced problems with using local fields and maintaining the
data? Any suggestions on what is happening?

When a user does this in a project plan, the new tables and views are
created in the project mpp file itself, unless the user opens the Organizer
and copies these into their local global mpt file. Have the user open the
projects containing the desired artifacts, and use the organizer to copy
these to the master record, and they will continue to be available to all
projects. Remember that you cannot manage local fields and views at the
enterprise level.
