Using multiple title masters

I'm using PPT2003 on Windows XP and I'm struggling with the whole concept of
multiple masters. I know the answer must be out there somewhere, but I can't
seem to find it.

Here's my issue. I have a template based on two standard masters - a slide
master and a title master. Let me call those Slide Master A and Title Master
A. For longer presentations, I would like to have an alternate title master
to use for divider pages. From what I've gleaned so far, I see that you
can't add a title master on its own, it will always be paired with a slide
master. So I've added Slide Master B and Title Master B to the template. I
don't intend to use Slide Master B, but I'm stuck with it, right?

Now I find that when I add a new slide to be used as a divider, I must first
go the Slide Design task pane, and apply Slide Master B (the title masters
do not appear in this pane, why not?) and then return to the Slide Layout
task pane and apply the title slide layout. Is there a simpler way that
would be easier to explain to users of the template?

You're doing it the right way...but why don't you just design a "Slide
Master" to be your divider slide (vs. the title master). Then you don't have
to reapply the layout...
