using office97 with windows98SE

I have Microsoft Office97, Professional Edition. I am getting a new PC. Can
I download office97 to my new pc and have it be usable? Also, if yes, do I
have to make any modifications? I am not that good at a lot of this and do
appreciate any help I can get. I find it too hard coming up with the 500$
for office2007, Professional Edition. Thanks.

Assuming your new PC comes with Vista, since O97 is not fully compatible
with Vista you may have some problems with some components, particularly
Outlook.
Only Office 2003 and higher is fully compatible.
O97 quailifies as an upgrade version for Office 2007

Install Office 97 and see how it works. If there are problems, then there
are many alternatives where you would not have to spend $500.

your needs. You may not need a professional edition at all.

Something the others haven't asked you is whether your version of Office
came with that compouter or did you buy it separately?

DL, actually O '97 does NOT qualify for upgrade to Office '07.

"Microsoft Works 6.0-10; Microsoft Works suite 2000-2006 or later; any
2000-2007 Microsoft Office program or suite; any Microsoft Office XP suite
except Office XP Student and Teacher" are the qualifying products for '07
