Using Outlook as a client managment software in law firm

Hello
I am trying to figure out if outlook can handle an initial 1000 contacts, plus 1000+ per year contacts with many "Journal Entries" to each contact as phone calls to clients with Timer tracking. Is this a safe idea with outlook/exchange or should we go with full-blown DB. I have heard that the ACT contact management software can be used for this and is stable, but this office is setup with many office 2000 features already and I don’t want to confuse them (they are lawyers) with any new software

Thank
Gordo

Yes, you can do that. Even older versions of Outlook with small tables
supported up to 16384 items per folder and with large tables in versions
from Outlook 98 on you can have up to 65535 items per folder.
