using outlook betwwen macs (OSX & Ver 9) & PC's

i would like to know if i could use outlook for
appointments and scheduling between disparate types of
computers and operating systems
will it work? Are there better/cheaper solutions?
There are about 30 computers in all.

Outlook requires an Exchange server, which requires a Windows server, if
you want all the functionality you mention. Microsoft does make a Small
Business Server system. You might want to check into this product.

You may or may not find it reasonably priced but for the features you're
seeking you'll be hard pressed to find anything cheap and easy to use.
