Using Outlook to View Web Access - Help!!

J

Jason C

I have a few users that use Outlook to view PWA through the Digital Dash
board or via a link.

I have added to the PWA home page a link to a listing of files to use for
reference material . This shows all of the documentation there in list
similar to what you would see in Windows Explorer or My Computer.

The issue is that after I put in this listing on the homepage, all of the
users that are using Outlook to view the PWA get nothing but the listing as
you would actually see it in Explorer or My Computer. Can some one tell me
why this is and what I can do to fix it. Without removing the link on the
homepage of course. That is what I will do if need be, but I would rather
solve it than have to work around something that should be relatively easy
to correct.

Thanks for your time and I look forward to seeing some solutions.

Because we can't see what you're seeing, this isn't an easy inquiry to
respond to. I was hoping someone might recognize your symptoms. If nobody
else jumps in, you might consider expanding your description of the problem.

Gary,

Here is what I did and what happened.

1. I went into Customize Web Access.
2. Went into Homepage format.
3. I added "Content" by naming the section and inserting a path to the
directory with the documents in it.
4. I adjusted the height of the section to 60 pixels and then saved changes.
5. When you went to the Home Page it showed the new section, the way I
thought it would look and it did what it was supposed to do.

The problem is that when you would access the homepage through Outlook you
would only be able to see the "New Section" and nothing else. I checked the
links and all of that jazz and nothing would change the view from outlook.
I have had to remove thee Section from the homepage and in its place I put a
link to access the documents.

I hope that this describes what I did and the issue I had with it. If
anyone has any ideas to get around this another way, other than the one I
used, I would appreciate it.

We are using Project Professional 2002 and Server 2002. On Windows 2000
professional. Of course we use SQL Server.

I'm not sure what else you would be looking for.

If I did not list it, let me know and I will send you the information you
require.

Thanks for the help Gary, I like it when I send something out that stumps
you MVPs.

Well, I suppose it's possible that has something to do with this, but I
don't have Office 2000 running to test it. If you want to continue to
troubleshoot this, updating your OS and Office Service Pack levels is a good
idea. What happens when you point to hmtl content? Does it render correctly?
