Using right application

B

Briggy

To keep it simple....I'm using Microsoft Project to try and compile all of
the task/projects throughout my department in order to ensure that we have
the proper staff/resources, time, & money allocated to each project.
Although I have not read extensively yet....can you please tell me if MS
Project is meant for this application or is it meant more to focus on
individual projects and not compiling them together? If there is a great way
to compile the Projects please point me in the right direction. I purchased
Microsoft Project 2003 Inside Out to help me along the way. If there are any
pointers in this book I'm sure it will be helpful as well.

Thanks,

JB

Hi JB,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

You might like to have a look at my series on Microsoft Project in the
TechTrax ezine, particularly #17 & 18 on Multiple Projects, at this site:

(Perhaps you'd care to rate the articles before leaving the site, :)
Thanks.)

FAQs, companion products and other useful Project information can be seen at
this web address: <http://www.mvps.org/project/>

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on :)

It is the right tool for the job, however getting there will take a bit of
work if the plans were developed independently as the resources may not
match across all the projects. Starting with a good book will help you get
straightened out. Project Server may also be something you will want to look
into.

Thank you so much for your post. I'm hoping to really get a grasp on this
pretty soon. As with any software program I'm sure it will end up being a
somewhat time consuming read/process of getting to know it intimately. If
you have any pointers please feel free to share.
