Using Visio to do floorplans

Hi.

I'm actually a software developer and a friend has asked me to create a
house floorplan for him on PC (his his mind, the two things are somehow
related??)

Anyway, I have the MSDN Subscription and therefore Visio. So, is it suitable
for a simple 2D floorplan? He's supplied me with an accurate pencil diagram
with dimensions so I just need walls/doors/windows etc.

yes, it will do fine. you should use the professional version.
