Using Windows authentication

E

Eduardo Mandry

I just can't use the Windows accounts I have on my network...

I have those accounts and the ACOMPUTER machine, and everyone on the
office can log to any computer using those accounts, it's like:

ACOMPUTER\username

So, I log as an administrator on Microsoft Office Project Server 2003,
go to users and groups, and go to modify an user... I select Windows
authentication, and I type:

ACOMPUTER\username

On the Windows NT account field, and I've tried using the same user
name and differents user names and it just doesn't work. When I try to
log in with that accounts, it says:

You have specified a wron user name and password combination. (5002)

What's happening?

By the way, the machine where I have Project Server installed is
BCOMPUTER, which uses the same accounts from ACOMPUTER... so it does
comunicate with no problems...

What is the URL of your Project Web Access? When you try to access Project
Web Access, does the URL you are using look anything like this:

http://servername/ProjectServer/lgnps.asp

If you see the characters "lgnps.asp" at the end of your URL, then you are
accessing the login page for those who use Project Server authentication,
rather than Windows authentication. You can log into Project Server from
that page using Windows authentication, however, by clicking the "Log on
using your Microsoft Windows user account" link in the actions pane on the
left side of the page.

If you want to log into Project Server automatically using Windows
authentication, make sure your Project Web Access URL looks something like
the following:

http://servername/ProjectServer

I'm not sure if I have addressed your real problem. Let me know if this
helps. If it doesn't, perhaps your response will prompt some others to join
in trying to assist you.
