Using Word 2004 on MacBook OS X 10.4.10 causes CPU usage of 100%

Hi there,

I'm using Word 2004 for Mac (v 11.3) on a MacBook under Mac OS X 10.4.10.
I switched off the background spell and grammar checker. Nevertheless
after a few minutes of writing or just doing nothing Word occupies up to
100 % of my CPU's time. This causes the fans to run which is very annoying.
Does anybody has an idea to resolve this problem?

Thanks
Marteng

Consistent and reproducible problems in Word usually respond to one of
the standard troubleshooting measures, which you will find listed here:

http://word.mvps.org/Mac/TroubleshootingIndex.html

Work through them one by one until something helps. If nothing does,
post back. The most common culprit is a corrupted Normal template or
damaged Preferences file. A good diagnostic trick is to see if the same
problem happens in a different user account--that helps narrow down the
source of the problem.
