Using yahoo with outlook express 6

W

Wyldhorse

I can't seem to get my yahoo email to work with outlook express 6.

I've set it up right, but everytime i open outlook, it asks for the login
information, and when I enter it in, it doesn't log in. It just keeps me at
the log in window, but opens up the authorization window that shows the tasks
and errors. Under the taskes it says: "Check for new messages on
'pop.mail.yahoo.com'. with a status of executing, and for some reason under
connection it says Local area network.

If I click cancel I get this error: "There was a problem logging onto your
mail server. Your Password was rejected. Account: 'pop.mail.yahoo.com',
Server: 'pop.mail.yahoo.com', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR
[SYS/PERM] pop not allowed for user.', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server
Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92"

these are the steps I took to setting it up:

From the Tools menu, choose "Accounts."
Select the "Mail" tab.
Click the "Add" button.
From the Add menu, click "Mail."
In the text box labeled Display Name, type your name and click "Next."
In the Email Address box, type your Yahoo! Mail address (be sure to include
"@yahoo.com") and click "Next."
Under "My incoming mail server is a…" select "POP3."
Type "pop.mail.yahoo.com" in the Incoming Mail (POP3, IMAP, or HTTP) Server
box.
Type "smtp.mail.yahoo.com" in the Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server box.
Click "Next."
In the Account Name box, type your Yahoo! Mail ID (your email address
without the "@yahoo.com").
In the Password box, type your Yahoo! Mail password.
If you want Outlook Express to remember your password, check the "Remember
password" box.
Do not check the boxes labeled "Log on using Secure…"
Click "Next."
Click "Finish."
Select 'pop.mail.yahoo.com' under 'Account,' and click 'Properties.'
Click the “Servers†tab.
Under “Outgoing Mail Server†check the box next to “My server requires
authenticationâ€
Click the 'Advanced' tab.
Under “Outgoing mail Server (SMTP)â€, I've checked the box next to “This
server requires a secure connection (SSL). And for the port number I've got 25

Under “Incoming mail (POP3)â€, I've checked the box next to “This server
requires a secure connection (SSL)". And for the port numbe I've got 995.

NOW, if I change the port number for the POP3 to 110 I get this error:
Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for
this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of
inactivity. Account: 'pop.mail.yahoo.com', Server: 'pop.mail.yahoo.com',
Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): Yes, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F

Hopefully someone can help me out. I've given all the information I can on
my issue. I need to get this resolved because I need this email for sending
resumes/job apps.

Thanks for the help

Unless you have paid for your Yahoo.com account, you can't use it in ANY
email client.

I am having email trouble, too.

I was told the use the following parameters in
OUTLOOK

Name: pop.att.yahoo.com

Incoming server: pop.att.yahoo.com
Outgoing server:smtp.att.yahoo.com

In more settings> advanced:

Port numbers:
Incoming: 995
Outgoing 465

SSL encryption required for both.

I'm assuming that your yahoo is associated with AT
& T as mine is.

I can only see my incoming mail as web
mail....nothing in the OUTLOOK "inbox"

Have you PAID for your Yahoo account?

Clearly, since 1) the servers distinctly name "att" and 2) he has a thread
of his own already with the details.

Why should that be "clearly"? I think that people in UK who use BT Yahoo,
although they pay BT for their internet access, AFAIK still can't use Yahoo
in a POP email client....

and 2) he has a thread of his own already with the details.

Which is not referenced in his posting, so why would I have seen it?

I do believe British Telecom uses yahoo for mail exactly as AT&T does and
you can POP to the server.

You don't read every thread? ;-)

with the details.

1. It's included with my AT&T U-Verse account
2. It's strange.
3. Today there were four emails in the Internet
Explorer Inbox
4. One email in the OUTLOOK in box (12/16/08
8:26AM EST)
5. I sent myself a test message it appeared on
Internet Explorer but not in my OUTLOOK in
box.(9:06AM EST)
