Do these messages arrive from another Outlook client?

Also, do you run Outlook in Unicode mode?

Hi,
As far as I can see, the only common thing in the header is "Content-Type:
text/plain; charset=utf-8" regarding the format of the malinterpreted mails.
None of the mails that are affected have been sent with an Outlook client.

I'm not sure what you mean by running Outlook in unicode mode. If you mean
the outgoing messages sent by my client, the preference is unformatted emails
in "Western European (ISO)" standard. UTF-8-support is activated for the
"mailto" protocol. (These settings are found in Tools/Options and the third
tab's "international settings" dialog box).

No, I'm not scanning my mails. As you can see in the pasted threads below,
other users are experiencing the same problem as well.

I'm not sure, but suspect that the combination of many people writing in
English and that UTF-8 still is quite rarely used, could be a reason for not
seeing more of this problem.

Hi,
When I receive an email encoded in utf-8, I always need to change the
encoding setting to something different in Outlook 2007, and then change
it
back to utf-8 in order to be able to see the Swedish å, ä and ö
characters.

This issue has been brought up in many forums, for example:
http://office-outlook.com/outlook-forum/index.php?t=msg&th=101902/
and
http://www.tech-archive.net/Archive/Outlook/microsoft.public.outlook/2006-06/msg00963.html

Is there a resolution to this issue?

I get about half of my mail in utf-8 and its fine so I think its something
else. I do use exchange server, so maybe it’s a problem with POP3 mail.
There is definitely something wrong for some people though - and when only a
few are affected, its harder to figure it out.

I've seen messages coming from Macintosh machines with similar kind of
problems; I think Apple has a different idea about UTF-8 than Microsoft.

Regarding Unicode Mode, see
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc179012.aspx

However, I now doubt that Unicode Mode is required to handle these
Swedish characters, as they are all in the single-byte range. (I've seen
problems with non-Unicode Mode only with multibyte characters, such as
Japanese.)

Any solution to this ??

All utf-8 mail I receive in Outlook 2007 is missing the danish chars. They are not replaced by iso code or utf code or special chars, they are simply removed totally.

In the mail subject the danish chars works, but they are removed from mail content.

When I check the mails in my web mail the danish chars are intact, so I'm pretty sure that the problem occur when downloading using pop3 to Outlook.

I can send and receive danish chars just fine as long as mail format is not utf-8.

How to setup Outlook 2007 to be able to receive utf-8 encoded mails ??

Br,
Jonas
