Valid Mail keeps going to Junk Email Folder in Entourage 12.2

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel
Email Client: pop

I'm running MS Office 2008 Entourage 12.2 and my email keeps going into my junk email folder.

I repeatedly mark this mail as not junk and respond to the prompt to classify the domain as not junk but to no avail it goes to the junk folder anyway. I've tried rules and have even set my protection level to "None" and my same good emails from the same senders keep going into my junk email folder.

I'm experiencing this on both of my Macs with the same setup.

Any help would really be appreciated!

Is there perhaps a mailing list rule (Tools>Mailing List Manager) that is
responsible for this behaviour? If so, disable or delete it and see if the
problem goes away.

Michel,

Thanks. There are no mailing list manager rules. I did however delete my regular Entourage Rules to see if somehow something was acting strangely there. I'll wait to get more email to see if that helps.

Michel,

Thanks I ended up deleting an Entourage Rule I had built which was causing the problem and all is fine now. Your reply sent me in the right direction.

Thanks very much,

I have a similar problem to ascarpa. Any email labeled with a particular category is automatically classified as Junk. If I mark it as not junk, the category classification is also removed. Oddly, although I have created many categories, this problem appears with only one of them. Also, I have turned junk mail filtering off, to no avail.

Unlike ascarpa, I have not created any Entourage Rules at all and have been unable to find any to remove.

Double check the Mailing List Manager rules.

It's very easy to set up a MLM rule by accident, when you are marking a
message as 'not junk'. The wording of that dialog is ambiguous to say the
least. Check if there is an MLM entry (look for MLM entries under the tools
menu) with the incorrect destination folder as the target folder. Mailing
List Manager rules run before your other rules.

Thanks, Diane. I checked, but there are no entries in the MLM. This approach probably is the correct one, however. Somehow an action or rule has become attached to just one of my categories. Unfortunately, I do not know enough about the inner workings of Entourage to discover the source.

I had hoped that Service Pack 2 would correct the problem, but it did not.

Uncheck each rule and add them back one at time until you find the culprit.
Check folder destinations for each rule.
