Validation List w/ ability to select more than one?

I would like to have a the equivalent of validation list
functionality; however have the ability to make more than
one selection from the list (separated by "," or ";").
This format would be copied to a range of several hundred
rows.

Is this possible, without using VBA.. I am reluctant to
use VBA and make it more difficult for a intermediate
user to maintain.
