validation test fails

I have a new GENUINE cd of Office 2007 pro plus. I have a CD key and
everything.
I installed it, and my computer even started to download updates for the
Office suite. So, my computer knew it was a new install.

I went to a Microsoft site to download some design templates for PowerPoint
2007. Of course, the site has to validate my ownership of the software. It
tells me it has failed. I did try rebooting and downloading the templates
again. No luck.

Why? What should I do? Who should I contact at Microsoft?

Thanks in advance!

When you failed validation, there were directions for you to follow to clear
up what may have been wrong. Try it again and this time follow the prompts
for activating.

thanks, but no, the steps listed did not help at all.
I also read some other posts that suggested I delete the "data.dat" file and
reboot and reactivate the software.
I do not have that file.

Anywhere! In Word Options, resourses, activate, when clicked on, it says the
product is already activated. I did activate it, and received a message that
said it was successful. Validation is not.

Please help! thanks!
