vary text alignment in the same line

I want to have part of the same line left aligned and part right aligned. In
Word 2002 "Help" on this subject says, "To insert right-aligned, text move
the I-beam pointer until you see the Align Right icon . Double-click, and
then start typing your text." Problem: I begin the line left aligned. Then I
want to finish the line right aligned. No matter how I move the I-beam
pointer in the line, the Align Right icon never appears to double click on so
I can't finish the line with text right aligned. I want the line to look like
this:

Hi dale061327,

You should use a table with two columns. Apply left alignment to the first,,
and right alignment to the second column. Insert your text as you wish in the
cells.

Good luck,
